Then join our upcoming workshop: Podcast Production. This workshop will be a crash course on the process of creating a podcast, including ideation, research and production, recording, and editing. The workshop will be held on April 19th, 2021.

This workshop will examine the spread of disinformation and conspiracy theories related to COVID-19 while also touching upon the basics of information disorder. We will start by defining the terms: disinformation vs misinformation vs propaganda vs “fake news”. We will discuss the origins and development of international conspiracy theories, looking into well-known examples, and analyze how social networks and closed/open communications platforms amplify disinformation.

We will touch upon the basics of the psychology of disinformation, including confirmation bias, appeal to emotions and the role of algorithms in producing information bubbles.

Finally, we will look at examples of COVID-19 conspiracy theories, and evolution of disinformation and misinformation, from early examples in January, up to September 2020.

At the end of the workshop, students will have a basic understanding of how disinformation works, how it is distributed and the psychology of “fake news”.

Networking with Confidence!

Everybody dreads networking. Some folks are introverts who would rather die (or stay home and read in quiet) than go to a networking event. Others see it as forced and fake interactions where everybody’s got an angle.

Forget what you know about networking. We’re going to take a new approach and simply make friends. You know, professional friends… which in the end, if you love what you do, become real friends.

Personal narratives can be powerful however they take practice and can be intimidating. We’re simply going to have some coffee talk while learning not to punch ourselves in the face… you’ll see what I mean.

Please join us; this will be a fun, engaging, and informal workshop (come as you are)! Coffee and light snacks will be provided!

In the real business world, we often come across messy datasets that require some efforts of data cleaning. What tools can we use for data cleaning? And what are some common strategies for data cleaning? These will be answered by this Excel workshop.

This workshop will teach you to perform data cleaning in Excel. During the 90 minutes, you will learn about basic concepts of data cleaning and go through different functions for data cleaning. Through case guided practice, you will get some hands-on experience to improve your work efficiency and enrich your skillset.

This workshop requires each attendant to bring a laptop with Excel installed. Attendants will receive a workshop slide with exercise spreadsheets before the event.

Analytics can help you better understand your customer, providing data such as:

• The locations your visitors are coming from – to help you plan and target local campaigns

• The devices your visitors use to access your web site – to inform your design

• User behavior on a website or apps – what are they clicking on most frequently or where they are

abandoning the transaction in a purchase funnel
